Tiger 03:09
Tough for me to name it My head keeps spinnin’ around Don’t know what her name is Her scent knocked me to the ground Every single moment Sittin’ here dreamy like a fool Man I just can’t help it You know...whoooo Sweet spirit you’ve stolen my heart This jungle gets real after dark Caught a tiger runnin’ from the yellow moon When I woke up she’d already left the room Doo-doo-wah-deewee-doo... I can’t find out why she’d have to go Doo-wah-deewee-doo If I find her I won’t let her go I just keep on searchin’ Roamin’ these streets all alone She just left me traceless Like a stone that you throw Sweet spirit you’ve stolen my heart This jungle gets real after dark Caught a tiger runnin’ from the yellow moon When I woke up she’d already left the room Doo-doo-wah-deewee-doo... I can’t find out why she’d have to go Doo-wah-deewee-doo If I find her I won’t let her go I won’t let her go If I only knew where she hides in the night Like a shadow I would go...ooohhh Caught a tiger runnin’ from the yellow moon When I woke up she’d already left the room 2x Doo-doo-wah-deewee-doo... I can’t find out why she’d have to go Doo-wah-deewee-doo If I find her I won’t let her go

Tell me what on earth can we do now Let us stop for a minute ’Cause I think this world is goin’ crazy Tell me what on earth can we do now Let us stop for a minute ’Cause I think this world is goin’ crazy Let’s break it down and simplify it ’Cause all we want’s to lead a happy life The world is at war fundamentally changin’ And draggin’ broken hearts into piles With this future we’re facin’ How should I just raise a child Out of all that we’re praisin’ The offspring should be love and life Tell me what on earth can we do now Let us stop for a minute ’Cause I think this world is goin’ crazy Tell me what on earth can we do now Let us stop for a minute ’Cause I think this world is goin’ crazy They’re plowin’ us with bad news now ’Cause they know that fear’s a fertile ground We’re changible tools servin’ greed and privation And follow those whose vessels sound the loudest In more than two-hundred nations Seven billion can’t be fooled We gotta take the occasion To stop before we start it anew Tell me what on earth can we do now Let us stop for a minute ’Cause I think this world is goin’ crazy Tell me what on earth can we do now Let us stop for a minute ’Cause I think this world is goin’ crazy Crazy, goin’ crazy Haaa... Hey-Yooo... 4x Live in this world that we made Hide but we cannot escape Everyone’s searchin’ and yearnin’ and thirstin’ and cryin’ for love, love La-la-la-love-love-love-love-la-love

Pass It On 03:37
Make a mistake Do something right See one day You’ll be just fine Whatever it is It will be ok Love will never be the one to lead you astray Pass it on Pass it on I’ve been waitin’ for your love for way to long Pass it on Pass it on By the time it hits you it’s already gone Why is it always So hard to embrace Instead of pullin’ closer We turn our face I tried to ignore it But that was a waste Tears have washed away the steps on the road you have paved Though we may change My heart will always beat the same Just pass it on Pass it on I’ve been waitin’ for your love for way to long Pass it on Pass it on By the time it hits you it’s already gone 4x Ooohhh I guess this is what it’s like seein’ an angel, angel Seein’ an angel Seein’ an angel Lalala...

Refugee 03:27
The presence of a memory Tangible yet far away Revisiting our history Echoes of yesterday I always felt our ways would part The lack of trust despite the love To similar to complement Wish I could hold your hand ’Cause you belong to me But do I belong to you I’m a refugee Without you in my life I got nowhere to run and nowhere else to hide I’m a refugee Without you in my life I got nowhere to run I wanna praise you Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Just love and praise you Yeah, yeah, yeah It’s not because we’ve never tried The gravity of sleepless nights Our love was like a mystery A storm over silent seas A lonely road with empty signs There’s no-one to blame this time They say that truth will set you free I’m asking you honestly Do you belong to me And do I belong to you I’m a refugee Without you in my life I got nowhere to run and nowhere else to hide I’m a refugee Without you in my life I got nowhere to run 2x I wanna praise you Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Just love and praise you Yeah, yeah, yeah I’m a refugee Without you in my life I got nowhere to run

I travelled all my life not knowing where to go Strangers along the way made the road my home I’ve been filled with loneliness Had my share o’ pain Realized the more things changed The more they stay the same You can hold on to a feeling Drown yourself in doubt And never let it out You can be it And believe it Don’t save it for a rainy day Love ins’t love until you give it away 2x Love isn’t love Love isn’t love Love isn’t love Love isn’t love until you give it away I’ve searched for answers to help me understand My weakness is my strength it made me who I am I’ve come from losing everything And I know for a fact That once you learn to give your heart You’ll get it all back You can hold on to a feeling Drown yourself in doubt And never let it out You can be it And believe it Don’t save it for a rainy day Love ins’t love until you give it away 2x Love isn’t love Love isn’t love Love isn’t love Love isn’t love until you give it away Oh, oh, oh I’ve taken many turns And most oft hem were wrong When I look into your eyes I know where I belong You can hold on to a feeling Drown yourself in doubt And never let it out You can be it And believe it Don’t save it for a rainy day Love ins’t love until you give it away 4x Love isn’t love Love isn’t love Love isn’t love Love isn’t love until you give it away

Paradise 03:28
Hands in the rifle Swears on the bible Deep underwater Duckin’ for cover Drownin’ what everyone dries Tired oft he nine to five Kisses his child goodnight Prays for a better life and hops on the red eye 2x This is paradise This is paradise This is paradise Say what you want but all that we got is this She looks in the mirror Cried her eyes clear Hopeless beyond believe Too many mouths to feed They carpet the hallway Those unpaid bills Lost in the rubble day after day Always a foot from the dream 2x This is paradise This is paradise This is paradise Say what you want but all that we got is this Da-da-da-da-da Da-da-da-da Say what you want but all that we got is this Dee-dee-dee-dee-dee Da-da-da-da Say what you want but all that we got is this Born in the middle Struck on the edge They try to change your heart But you hold on to who you are You silence the city To your favourite song When life’s ’bout to break you Music will save you and it’ll keep you warm 4x This is paradise This is paradise This is paradise Say what you want but all that we got is this

about

Since his debut album in summer 2012 (“The Colors Of Hope“) Fetsum has grown to become an artist, whose goal is to make music with social relevance and is able to provoke to act. The “Peace x Peace”-Festival in Berlin this year, initiated and organized by Fetsum Sebhat reinforces his wholeheartedly involvement for a fairer, more social and more peaceful world.

Looked at it that way it's not a surprise at all that the son of an Eritrean refugee family just wrote a book together with the vice president of the German parliament, Claudia Roth about the current political situation (“So geht Deutschland – Eine Anstiftung zum Mitmachen und Einmischen”). You could almost believe there's no time left for music. But just before Christmas Fetsum finally favours us with his new EP “Light In A Dark Place” and turns its title into substantial action. Just as with the PxP festival, UNICEF children aid projects in Syria, South Sudan, in the Ukraine and in Iraq will be supported with the net revenues. For the EP's six songs Fetsum visited the recording studios of several top shot producers in Great Britain and in the US over the last few months.

“Pass It On” is a beautiful, folky soul ballad with inevitable sing-along effect Fetsum wrote together with Dominic Salole aka Mocky and recorded it with hit producer Justin Stanley. It's also Stanley who produced “Tiger”, a song Fetsum is collaborating on with LA based Harlan Silverman (e.g. guitar player with Mayer Hawthorne). Probably one of the most important songs the Berliner by choice has written in his career is “Refugee”. An anthem which could make Fetsum carry the hope of a whole generation. For this song, no one less than British composer Guy Chambers (Robbie Williams, James Blunt etc.) has helped him out as well as Swedish prouder Martin Terefe. He was also responsible for production duties on “Love Isn't Love” and “Paradise”. Both two songs which get under the skin and spread optimism without ever drift off into cheesiness. A downright call for action is the protest song “Stop For A Minute” for which Fetsum invited a whole choir to the Funkhaus Studios Berlin and which was mixed by the eight time Grammy Awards winner Manny Marroquin.

Fetsum manages with “Light In A Dark Place” to achieve something that not a lot of artists succeeded in: To make music that exactly reflect the Zeitgeist and invites the listeners to play one's part in making this world a little bit better. “I have received a lot during my life”, says Fetsum. “Now it's time to give back a lot”. This EP is certainly not the last thing we will receive as a gift from him in the near future.

FETSUM Berlin, Germany

Of the many words that one might choose to define FETSUM’s long awaited debut, perhaps the most accurate is ‘global’. It’s an adjective that not only summarises the sound that he has fashioned since he first started writing in his early teens, but also his background. ... more
